Thabit is a graduate of Duke University with the full-ride AB Duke Scholarship. After seeing the widespread problem of arsenic water poisoning in Bangladesh, Thabit researched and developed an affordable water filter, which gained top recognition at international science fairs. He was selected as one of 40 Intel Science Talent Finalists in the nation, to meet with Barack Obama. Today, he is focused on implementing the arsenic water technology, and continues research on the filters at Duke University.
